I HATE SOUTH BUTT. NORTH FACE ACTUALLY HAS A PURPOSE. SOUTH BUTT IS FAKE, AAND CHEAP, AND STUPID. THE NORTH FACE IS A QUALITY BRAND THAT PEOPLE LIKE AND BUY. SO HOP OFF IT.
My brother owns a northface jacket and it is a piece of crap. When you pay for northface you pay for a thin generic fleece jacket that is neither wind or waterproof. At least southbutt has some originiality. People like and buy north face for the label. because they want to be trendy.
You are clearly passing off North Face and I suggest you fold. North Face will win this suit and have you for massive costs. Have a look at the logos! It is obviously going to confuse consumers. I presume you know this as it appears to be your business plan!

I think the south butt was a cool idea as a lot of people that buy north face products buy them simply for the lable, not the actual purpose. However I am beginning to agree with Kate that the products are cheap and I can’t get a response out of anyone at South Butt and I have been trying to since Christmas. I received a fleece for christmas and after one use the tail broke off the zipper. I really just want this replaced. Please The South Butt check your emails and clear out your voicemail box so that your customers can get through to you!

I purchased and recieved a hat after learning of the pending lawsuit as my support to you and to the free enterprise system. NF should of hired you and offered to buy your company for megabucks. Keep up the good work, America was built by people like yourself.

Good luck! I used to buy North Face products years ago, but their new stuff (since the late 90s, at least) is junk. North Face, like most of their competitors, hase continuously cut corners in the name of profitability, but at the price of quality and integrity; they deserve ridicule.

Free capitalism! They have no right to establish censorship in an open market. They think that SB is mocking them. Yet really, they are mocking themselves whenever they put on a NF jacket to go out into the freezing, desolate, snowy realm, also known as simply going to school in SoCal.

Actually, the logo is not the same. 1) it’s facing left, not right. 2) it’s facing down, not up. 3) there are 2 lines not 3 lines. 4) The South Butt does not LOOK or SOUND anything like The North Face other than the word “the”.
To all of the people who think The North Face fleece is so much better…it’s fleece people. It’s likely all bought from the same source. If you want to spend $100 for a shirt at The North Face, and you feel like it’s worth the money, go right ahead. We’re not all blessed wit money. Even if I DID have that kind of money, I’d never spend that much for a shirt. That money can be put to better use, and you ought to be ashamed for spending so much for a piece of clothing when people in your own communities are starving, and can’t pay their heating bills.

The North Face is awesome. Several of my friends and I have North Face Denali jackets and we all love them. I don’t think it’s fair to criticize other people who can actually afford to buy from the big brands like Uggs Australia and The North Face. I know the kid who created The South Butt thought they were being funny, making fun of The North Face, but look, now you’re being sued. Haha! I hope you lose the lawsuit mean old turds!
While I agree that there would be little confusion caused between the two brands (unless you are totally retarded), I definitely think that The South Butt is infringing upon The North Face Trademark, Logo, and Intellectual Property. If a Jury can be swayed that South Butt does indeed infringe upon and in fact could cause irreputable harm to the North Face’s good will and reputation as well, then be prepared to payout MILLIONS in damages. Whomever is advising Mr. Jimmy is not doing him any justice. It is not a matter of if, but when, and how much North Face will win this lawsuit by. This is one David and Goliath fight that Goliath can not win!

The North Face is an incredible company/brand, owned by VF Corp, (people look it up, awesome company) and they have great people that work hard to make great products that people want. They offer many different price points and even have an outlets where you can get items cheaper (for like $20). TNF develops, creates, and engineers high-quality products and absolutely stands behind their brand. (Unlike another brand we know, who buy blanks from overseas suppliers and screen-print/embroider their name on it…wow!)
Why don’t you just grow up Jimmy? Come on, be real and get over your ego. You could have designed your so called ‘quality’ items under a whole different name/concept. If you had such high quality/cool products, they should stand for themselves right? I guess that just proves your lack of real creativity, because you had to mimic a brand that has succeeded in this capitalistic country (as WestElbow says).
Listen up people, you should check our new biz…(some direct competition for The South Butt). It’s called ‘The East Arm’, we sell crap-quality apparel with one arm at a cheap price. And don’t worry about trying to return anything, you get what you pay for and we don’t believe in Customer Service. Oh yeah, and you can find our products at your local flea market, because we couldn’t go ‘big time’ and sell them at Williams Community Pharmacies.
And please don’t bother to comment TNF haters…this is ‘free speech’ as you all call it. Get a life and stop following others who just survive on controversial attention. There are far better things to spend your money on, like helping the suffering people of Haiti. Hmmmm…what kind of monetary contribution did The South Butt make to The American Red Cross?
